I'm hungry.

Ate a lot for dinner at Hui-Min's house. We had our little gathering before Stacey and she fly off on 13 and 10 September respectively. Her house is really nice!!! We did a lot of rare&random camwhoring! We ate and talked and took a walk downstairs! Lots of stars in the sky! Miss star-gazing in Hwachong Central Plaza. Any nice star-gazing spot in NTU, especially near Hall 13? SCI rooftop looks like a nice star-gazing spot though.

Still hungry. Shall go drink packet Milo.

Need more Milo in hostel. And milk too. Not full cream milk though, no thanks to my mother. Think I'm not fat enough is it? Wahaha shall go on a eat-less-save-more routine in September, in an attempt to make up for the money I spent in August. Probably exceeded what I'm supposed to spend monthly, although a lot is one-off expenditure. Need to spend less this month to achieve some sort of equilibrium.

Eheh I'm not that inflexible after all. Not as flexible as before, but still can make it. My nose touches my knee with pretty much no difficulty. Whoosh! It's just that when I do sit&reach, my hand cannot go as far as almost an elbow beyond my foot. Shall try to resume my flexibility. Anyway, this topic came up during our gathering cuz Michelle and Fonping are in Wushu and Cheerleading respectively, and both involve some sort of flexibility.

Michelle Tan Minxuan highlighted her hair! I didn't know! *Glares at her* I want too! Was debating whether to dye or highlight my hair purple, dark metallic purple [not lavender purple, like the purple mascara I bought, thinking it's dark purple]. Audrey told me to highlight, so that black hair roots won't be visible when my hair grows longer. I love my very very black hair, but I just cannot resist dark purple hair! It's an at-least-once-in-a-lifetime thing. Shall see if I have any money left over for the month or delay the plan for awhile. Why do I have a creeping feeling my mother will not be happy if I do something to my hair? Anyway, we realized that I have a lot less white hair now.

Holy crap. I'm scheduled for the first week for my first assessed speech for COM205! Which is next week! I haven't prepared and have no freaking idea what to say! The assigned topics make no sense, and I'm tempted to speak on "Black". I have no idea what about. How do I take a stand on that???

Audrey told me someone she knows passed out for 10 minutes after laughing too hard! *Gasp* I'm in great danger too! OMG. *Dies* Why does laughing seem so unhealthy now? Never mind, I still want to laugh. Wahahaha.

Self-reminder to get Skype so that I can talk to Audrey Michelle Fonping Hui-Min Twins etc. If not my webcam is like useless.
Why the hell am I awake at 1.41am?! I want to watch 王牌大眼睛! I missed the 12.15 show, so I'm waiting for the 2h-delay show at 2.15. My father switched the TV off. Have to wait until everyone's asleep before I switched it back on. My eyelid is still throbbing! Either a disaster is going to strike soon, or I'm just too tired.

Did I complain??? My angel never wrote to me at all during all 3 weeks of angel-mortal game! My angel just keeps getting worse and worse. Secondary school games were fine, cuz girls like to play this game most of the time. J1 was ok; Gordon did write, just not as often as my mortal Pei Han. J2 was boring; Jonathan [I don't know if I spelled his name correctly] wrote occasionally, Chen Feng never wrote but still did reveal his identity. Uni angel never wrote at all! =/ Sie Yen and I wanted to write to each other, but before I could write, her angel finally wrote to her! =(

There's a revival round for Superband!!! Coming Monday! Soap is back, and they will be back! QF9 was so screwed lah! MediaCorp changed the show timing without informing the audience, resulting in many people missing the show and the chance to vote. Soap will be back in! It's probably between them and DreamFactory, looking at the choice of songs.

Allura is performing at Uprising at the zoo! Giving it a miss cuz we're going Hui-Min's house. Not that I can really appreciate the music. Just an infatuation with the band, or part of it. Wishing them all the best!

Shucks! I'm running late!

*Gone*

Eeks. My teeth is disgusting. Serious plaque build-up due to bad dental care all these years. Better go to the dentist soon and start an improved brushing and flossing routine before my teeth rots. A huge piece of plaque dropped out just now and brought my attention to this plaque problem. The build-up of plaque has been so extensive it seems to have become part of my tooth, distorting the growth of the actual tooth. I think part of my tooth dropped out with that piece of plaque as well. This problem might be worse than I thought. Disgusting. Yucks. Yucks. YUCKS!!! As if my 4mm gap isn't bad enough. Anyone want to go visit the NTU dentist sometime soon? =( It's definitely going to hurt with all that build-up. Help~

I need to learn to take care of myself. Watch my weight [uh-hmph] and watch my skin. Had a crash course on skin care from Lixian when she came down yesterday afternoon. I need to go get cleansing foam, exfoliation scrub, foundation, blusher etc. If I can improve my skin condition, then I won't have to use foundation at the risk of clogging up my already clogged pores. Have to work hard on that, and do a little investment. This investment better be worth it. I'm not keen on self-investment, you see.

Urgh. My left bottom eyelid has been throbbing really hard since this morning and is back again! I don't know what's going on! Throbbing eyelid on the left is inauspicious! OMG.

Lixian came over yesterday afternoon to return the book her friend borrowed for her. Hanged around in my room for awhile to tidy up my study desk and for a crash course on eyeliner application. We walked over to NIE library to return the book, before heading over to Canteen A to find Yu-Yin. Yu-Yin decided to meet Shiyan and I later so Lixian and I went back to Hall 13 again. After bathing, Lixian started on my mini-makeover. Haha, kidding, not that exaggerated lah. Anyway, I shall heed her advice and do blusher instead of eye make-up. After we were done, we went downstairs to meet Yu-Yin, who ended up a little lost around our hall cluster. We half=hurried over to AMK Hub to meet Xinyu and Kia Mian while Lixian continued her way home. But she's coming over on Monday! Yeah!

Err we were very late meeting Xinyu and Kia Mian. Headed over to the old KBOX outlet cuz we thought less people will go there and so we can stay longer. Haha KBOX-ing with them ji high! Although towards the end, I was high to prevent myself from freezing! We sang a lot of songs! My voice remains, miraculously! When we finished singing, or rather, when we were chased out of KBOX cuz they were closing, it was almost 3am, so we hung around at the 24h Mac. Stupid Mac, WirelssSG still need to register! I bring my laptop all the way there then cannot use the network. In a way it was good cuz i managed to complete majority of my article. Spent a little time on Korean, and then spent the rest of the morning zombie-ing until it was time for Big Breakfast! Mac Big Breakfast just keeps shrinking. I was pretty much dead around 6am cuz I did not take a nap at all. Imagine how uber-dead I was for the rest of the day. Korean was drifting-around, COM205 was spacing-out and Math was totally conked-out, which isn't totally my fault, I insist. So glad to be home, but why am I not asleep to catch up on all the hours lost yesterday? Haiya, as long as I wake up before 11am tomorrow, I'll be fine.

I'm an idiot. Probably not always, but due to my conked-put brain and throbbing eyelid. I brought my COM201 stuff back to study for Thursday quiz, but i left my Korean stuff in hall when my Korean listening quiz is on Tuesday! Gah~

Mu mother received lots of teachers' day presents! Nope, she's not a teacher, she's a kitchen assistant, but they seem to treat her like a teacher. So many presents! I got to kope some too! XD

Better go rest now! Pray for my eyelid to stop throbbing!!!!!

Stayed at Canteen B until 9pm today to listen to the debut of Jing Ting and Cai Yun's Radio Fusion show... Shiyan was their talk show guest! Eeks they met with some technical difficulty but the show was generally quite ok, though a little too formally structured[?]... Enjoyed listening to them though... Being a DJ is definitely not easy! Have to talk for 2h, since each slot is for 2h, and have to make sure the audience can hear you and can relate to what you are saying... Have to play good music too, which is the best part of DJ-ing to me, cuz can introduce great music to people who might not have heard... Still think it's weird talking to nobody in particular yet talking to everyone out there, of cuz, there's still your co-host... Stayed throughout for the show until they were done before we trekked back to hostel with Cai Yun...

Jing Ting's mum is super funny!!! When she came to fetch Jing Ting near SCI, there were two CS seniors Pamy and Amos in her backseat... The funny thing is, she said she don't know who they are! She just picked them up like that! Coincidentally, they happen to be Jing Ting's OGL for FOC... Wonder what actually happened... How did she pick up the two of them without any idea of who they are??? Haha interesting...

Anyway, finished sewing the purple inner lining to the pink outer cloth! Shall continue sewing the pouch tomorrow... Shucks, it's Thursday tomorrow and I still have not organized my scribbled notes from the past three weeks! Heard from Audrey that their mid-term is coming soon, which means ours isn't faraway too! OMG!

It's been three weeks into university. Doesn't feel that long, but that's actually about 1/4 of the semester?! I really have to re-organize all my notes from the past three weeks by this week! Gosh.

Three weeks. When we first started school, those who are going overseas for university still had loads of time before school starts. As September draws near, these friends are departing one by one, off to Australia, China, Taiwan, UK etc. Yanyin just took off tonight and is on her way to Australia; Yu-Yin and Hui-Min leaving on 6 and 10 Sept respectively. Won't get to see them until a semester later... Bon voyage!

I have a tendency to stone when waiting alone. Sometimes I stone so hard I become oblivious to everything around me, especially if I'm listening to MP3. Speaking of which, I bought hot pink cloth for my iPod pouch. Gosh. Should have gotten purple. Hot pink is really bright. I want to decorate the pouch! I have a button for that now. -.- Very expensive button leh! Shall start sewing the pouch this week! X)

When I am involved in the planning of something, I want it to go perfectly as I planned. If I am just a participant, I'm actually more flexible towards changes. Self-perfectionistic eh?

Woo-hoo! I can do my Math tutorial! Not sure if I got them right, but glad enough that I managed to complete the tutorial. Pathetic. I've been declaring my love for Math all along, but I'm starting to wonder if it's plain infatuation. It's a pleasantly vicious cycle - you like what you do well in, you do well in what you like. It's been so long I've started doing Math that I could no longer distinguish if I did well cuz I liked the subject, or if I liked it cuz I do well. Cuz I'm starting to not love Math so much cuz I'm not doing so well. =/ Math is more of a habit, than a love. I'll let that continue, as long as I can survive.

Met up with Hui Chun, Lynnette and Wan Yuan for lunch today, before the two girls fly off to Wuhan next month. Haiz, too bad Liwen, Hui Wen and Vivian couldn't make it. We wanted to meet up last weekend but Lynnette, Wan Yuan and I couldn't make it, and so we postponed the gathering to this weekend. Ironically, three of us could make it today but the rest couldn't, so it was just the four of us. The more the merrier, but it was still really fun!

Have been so long since I met up with Lynnette and Wan Yuan [as well as Liwen, Hui Wen and Vivian], ever since I stopped going back to office to disturb people. Nice to see them again! They'll be flying off to Wuhan next month and will be there for half a year before they return and graduate.

[Anyway I forgot to go activate my campus call service again.]

Met Wan Yuan, followed by Lynnette, at Orchard MRT before heading over to meet Hui Chun at Taka for lunch. We started teasing Hui Chun about how 'lady' she looks cuz she looks really different from the way she did at work. Haha I look the same at work and in school, at all times, in fact. Haha, anyway, Hui Chun earned the 绰号 of Sexy Legs [among many other 绰号s] and became the target of teasing and camera.

Went back and forth Taka and Wisma in search of food before deciding to head over to Cine instead. A lot of people happened to be at Cine too! Outside Cine, we saw Pedro; at Shokudo, we saw a group of CS seniors, who happened to be Hui Chun's friends; at Pastamania, we saw even more CS seniors, including Bernie, Hui Min and Jin! Very coincidental. =) Speaking of which, I almost never ever run into people at Vivo even though people always claim that the probability of bumping into friends there is higher than in town!

Went for lunch at 新旺茶餐厅 and spent a lot. Haha shall eat less next week. After lunch, we decided to go for KBOX! Sang all the way from 2.30pm to 6.30pm and spent a lot again. Haha really have to eat less next week. Anyway, everyone sing damn well lah! Lynnette's very professional and can do really nice renditions of ballads; Wan Yuan has a really great voice and range, and she sounds a little like Selina; Hui Chun rox at rock and sounds very 'lady' when the key gets a little high. Walao 我自卑 lah... Haha as if I don't know I can't sing. 自己唱,自己爽!自己不喜欢自己,又有谁会喜欢我呢?希望某天某个有听觉障碍的家伙会欣赏我!Heck, but my high notes really sux; anyhow shout also cannot reach. My voice is damn freaking weak.

Randomly took a lot of photos during KBOX, thanks to Lynnette and Wan Yuan. Posed shots, act-cute/act-ugly/act-funny shots, candid shots and unglam shots galore! Lynnette took a lot of photos of Hui Chun and we threatened to post the photos up online, captioned. And I volunteered to publicize for her. Haha. Too mean, too lame, so I decided not to post anything after all. Maybe when I get the photos, I'll post up the captions without photos. Walao I got damn a lot of unglam shots too. Haha and I totally fail as a photographer. Cannot catch angle and all. Remind me never to become a photojournalist. I won't do the pictures justice.

Poor Hui Chun got another nickname too. Or rather, one of the KBOX guy innocently earned himself a nickname "Brother", which makes Hui Chun "Sister". Basically cuz he opened the door for Hui Chun when she came back from paying the bills. He looks really young, around 17 or 18. Long story cut short. Anyway, why does KBOX like to employ teenage labour? Flexible employment to cope with weekend crowd? Cheap? Not enough people up for employment?

Left around 6.30pm and headed over to Plaza Singapura to get some materials from Spotlight. Regret sia. I think I still have more of the same kind of cloth I bought. Materials are damn expensive. Too bad, iPod needs clothes, no clothes cannot come out of its room, don't come out and be used will defeat its purpose of existence.

Broke. Waiting for the next week to end so that I can total up my expenditure for August and estimate my appropriate monthly expenditure. Textbooks are so expensive!

Great publicity appeals to the senses.
Great sincerity appeals straight to the heart.

Am I suay or am I suay.

We had our second COM205 tutorial today, which is actually our first session with our tutor P.F. The lesson began with the Zip-Zap-Boing game, followed by a group exercise about advertisements. We spent about an hour on all those, before we started on the diagnostic speech to give the tutor a brief idea of our current public speaking standard. As there was less than an hour left until the end of the lesson, he randomly selected several people to speak. I was praying real hard for him not to pick me and I ended up as the first speaker. Urgh. I was so engrossed in my anecdotes I failed to link them back to my main purpose. Good to hear I was engaging though; doing that interaction thing sort of made me a little less nervous. I thought I was speaking too fast though, and I should be more confidence. Eeks. I'm "scared" of some people in my tutorial group! Don't ask me why! I think they are a little scary... Anyway, the tutor better not ask me to speak again next week for the Aesop's fables thing.

Tired. =X

I realized I respond to many names now.
Kia Hui, Jia Hui, Kia, Kia Kia, Xiao Jia Hui, Xiao Hui, and from eons ago, Kiwi.

I think blogs are amazing. You get to communicate with so many people all at once and for those who are not the vocal type, blogs are great to express thoughts and ideas as well as to share experiences. For those you don't know well or rarely talk to, you can also understand them better by reading their blogs. Sometimes, or rather, many times, I say more on my blog than I do in person. Which is sad on my part. Communication problem eh. Urgh.

Hmm. If I don't feel for something, I won't do much for it. If I do feel for something, I'll do a lot and I'll do it well. It's all about passion and commitment, no matter what we do. Sometimes there's no need to find too many reasons for things, as the simplest, most straight-forward thought is the most genuine feeling. Follow your heart and trust it.

The lecturer/tutor for the Chinese Migration module is so not encouraging.

Yes, you have mentioned in every single one of the past 3 lectures that HC4XX is meant for Year 3/4's and therefore not advisable for Year 1's like us, but since we have made this choice, we will greatly appreciate if you show us a little encouragement and not suggest more than one for us to drop this module, especially since the add/drop period is over and we cannot drop it even if we want to. I agree that it might be a little unfair to the seniors if you have to repeat what you have taught previously, since you guys seem to go a long way back. If you mention the concept, we can go read up on those if we are really interested. That's within our control. It's irritating to keep harping on how "those who took your module least semester would know"; I mean, we weren't even accepted yet, what can we do?? Makes me feel helpless eh.

Anyway, things will get better. So what if we are Year 1s? There's no harm done to the seniors, since we are probably going to be the ones at disadvantage. At least this module is interesting and relevant, but it is getting a little confusing for me.

During today's lecture, the lecturer mentioned that those Chinese who go overseas for education and return to China after that are called 海归[海龟], those who find themselves unemployed upon return and await employment are called 海待[海带], and those who are trying to seek employment are called 海找[海藻]。Basically, their status will be downgraded to an animal when they return. After which, they become a plant. =.= *Lame* Hehe the plant part was invented by me lah, but the lecturer provided all the terms.

Did I mention that I suspect I am suffering from 被遗忘妄想症?

我背书时记忆力不是很好
认识的人我倒是能记得住
我怕我记得的人不记得我
我怕我认得的人不认得我
我怕我在乎的人不在乎我
我怕我喜欢的人不喜欢我

Came across the below topic several times recently:
在路上遇到似熟不熟的acquaintance, 你会主动打招呼,还是假装没看见[总不可能摆明不理他吧]?

I'll look down, look left/right [whichever side the person is NOT on], look at my handphone and act busy.
Disclaimer: When I look left/right or at my handphone, it might not imply that I'm deliberately ignoring you.
总之,就是装作没看见,因为不能装作不认识。
可是如果真的不算认识,我真的会装作不认识。

It's not that I mean to be rude or anything, it's just...a combination of various reasons.
1) It's really hard to catch the right moment to say Hi! You say it too fast, the person might not have noticed your presence and might not hear you. You don't say it fast enough and stare for a moment too long, it gets far too awkward. How??
2) I have no faith in people to remember who I am, not cuz I'm hopelessly cynical, but cuz past experiences have made me hopeless. People might think I look familiar but just cannot remember exactly where I'm from, or simply don't remember that I once appeared in their life. I'd rather not know.
Then again, if you say Hi to me first, I'll definitely enthusiastically say Hi too!

Back to the topic of 被遗忘妄想症, I am really afraid of being forgotten, especially by people whom I made an effort to remember. Heck I'm really insecure. Call the security for me please.

I like adding everyone I know on MSN, even if I don't talk to them. I like to see how people's display message changes with time and learn more about them and the going-on's in their life. Even if we never talk. But I think I'm quitting my habit of adding everyone, especially those whom I know but don't know me.

I realized I didn't add any of the SPH scholars on MSN. Just added Charissa, Yanmin and Soon Kiat. Quite a few are flying off soon! Wish them all the best...

I am really impressed by someone. You can say, I'm a little infatuated. Nothing serious. Haha...

I wanna mug but I don't wanna mug!!! I came back to hostel bright and early at 3plus [cuz it won't be bright and early in the evening] and did nothing except superglue-ing myself online. Nothing productive! How...

No more soap...

Deliberately went down to the student lounge at 8pm to catch the Superband show, only to find out that Channel U was broadcasting PM Lee's speech.

BUT
I just found out that they changed the timing! Since I'm not at home and glued to the TV the entire day, I had no idea of the change in timing and missed the show totally!

What's worse, SOAP has been eliminated!
SAD
Hopefully my Sunday tuition session gets brought forward early enough for me to get home and catch the repeat telecast of the show. Damn sad.

OH
I just found out that Facebook has a chat function which allows online friends to chat! To think I actually communicated with Lay Ming via Facebook messages that day!

I'm feeling a little excited due to various different reasons, which make me super excited due to the accumulation!

My angel didn't write to me. =/

Anyway I had the classic freshie-getting-lost-in-school experience today.

Right after my COM203 lecture from 0830 to 1030, I was supposed to go for my MAS111 tutorial immediately. The venue stated upon course registration was SPMS TR15. Having no idea where on earth, or rather, in SPMS, TR15 is, I consulted the interactive map on the NTU website. Only one result came out of my search, and it directed me to NS4-5-93. Huh? SPMS and NS aren't exactly closely situated. I made an extremely dumb decision of trusting the interactive map and travelled all the way to NS from SCI for my tutorial, thinking I'll be 15 minutes late. When I finally found TR15 at NS4-5-93, I saw a totally empty room without a single soul. It then dawned on me that SPMS is rather new and the interactive map system may not have been updated on its existence. And I trekked back to SPMS which was right beside SCI, in search of TR15. However sophisticated and modern-looking SPMS looks, didn't help. The architect is a genius, I have to say, and the architecture he designed is a total maze. Why am I not amazed? When I finally found TR15 of SPMS, after many turns and all, I was half an hour late. For a one-hour long lecture. Wonderful. In actual fact, it will take me 5 minutes, at most 10, to get to SPMS from SCI. Grr...

Congratulate me! I can understand every single question the tutor went through during class! I'm smart, aren't I? Not. Whatever I didn't know, he didn't go through. Great. I was too dead at the end of lesson I decided to ask him during the next lesson. The class is surprisingly quiet during the tutorial though. -.-

Finally let my iPod Touch out of the box and transferred nearly a thousand MP3s into it. Still not very familiar with it so will probably take some time to figure out its function. According to my brother, iPod Touch has excellent function. Hope I put it to good use and take good care of it. BTW my iPod Touch is named Kappa Iota Alpha.

Have to make a trip down to the Hello! store at AMK Hub tomorrow afternoon before tuition to activate the campus call service for my phone. Can't remember what else I have to do.

I'm halfway through Chapter 3 of Communication Mosaics for the first COM201 lecture next week and have yet to start on Chapter 4 for the second lecture. Not to mention, I have not started on The Art of Public Speaking for next week's COM205 lecture and I have no idea what to prepare for the speech for the tutorial. Hope I'll get started on the readings for COM203 soon and figure out a general outline for my HC461 presentation assignment. Most importantly, figure out what was going on for MAS111. My brain is totally not back in schooling mode.

Weather sux. Damn hot. Need air-con. Urgh. Mood spoiler.

Oh yeah! My first attempt to change the printer ink cartridge was a success! It's not that hard. XD Sometimes all you have to do is try before you know if it is possible or not. Haha, how weird is it for me to say this, when I'm the one who's afraid of trying for fear of losing.

[edit]
I exhausted almost an entire cartridge of black ink to print my notes and readings for COM201, 203 and 205! Horrid...
[/edit]

Continues my weekend printing frenzy...

Home food is nice~ Lots and lots of soup! Haha
TV
Fridge
Bed with a fan right in my face
Gosh, hall life made me cherish home more
But hall's nice too
Just that we don't seem to be indulging much in it and the associated freedom
Nice and peaceful

Foundation of Mathematics lecture got me so damn pissed off. There were so many PRCs and Malaysians and Indonesians! Grr... And the entire lecture hall was irritatingly noisy. They could have known everything cuz they are damn freaking smart and so they are arguing against what is being taught; they could have been discussing cuz they don't understand what is being taught; or they could be just totally uninterested in what's being taught cuz they are too smart for this. What the hell. People's trying to catch up here cuz I missed the first lecture and I am so dumb I can't follow as the lecturer goes on, but the noise was just so freaking disrupting. The PRCs and Malaysians all around me were really distracting too. The lecturer's even greater. The whole lecture hall is so obviously not listening and he just went on and on. At some point of time, it was so noisy I couldn't even catch what he was saying. He just went on and on, making no sense at all. His communication skills totally sux! No consciousness of the general audience at all. I was almost going crazy towards the end of the lecture. I swear, if i can find a better elective as substitute, I might just drop this.

I realized a tendency of mine. I treat PRCs as enemies, until they become my friends. Meaning, those who are not my friends are my enemies. Not really enemies, but I don't like them. Especially those who think they are so great and superior as compared to us and make no effort to blend in. No offense meant to anyone. If you are my friend, I like you a lot.

Friday is a sad day...

Many people might be able to free up Friday but since my COM205 tutorial falls on Friday and I failed to find anyone to change tutorial group with, I can only go home on Friday. The problem is that I made the situation worse by making Friday my longest day of the week! How dumb...

Friday is sad day cuz I have nobody to go to lessons with! There's only one core for the day, but it's a tutorial right in the middle of the day and I know a significantly small number of people in my tutorial group. Hopefully I'll get to know more of them soon. An hour before my COM205 tutorial is my Korean lesson and half an hour after my tutorial is my Math lecture, which lasts all the way until 5.30pm and makes Friday my longest day, so it's pretty much impossible to meet up with anyone in between. The one-hour slot is too short for a proper lunchtime slack and since there's nobody to lunch with, I'll likely end up munching on sandwich every week. If I'm lucky, I'll see Hui Chun in SCI before my tutorial and not be bored to death all alone.

The Math lecture in 20 minutes' time is both exciting and dreadful. It's been a long time since I did proper Math and I do want to keep in touch with it. At the same time, I have a really high expectation of myself with limited confidence, so I'm really worried if I can cope with university Math, especially with my transition from Science to Arts over the past year. I am not certain of the standard and although I am OK with my standard among locals, it just dawned on me that there are many foreign students taking this module too.

Anyway, Speech and Argumentation tutorial didn't go too badly. We started the lesson with a little ball game which was analogical to public speaking and did give me a pretty good introduction to the concept of public speaking. But I really sux at catching the ball. As for speaking, I do try to convince myself to mask my nervousness when speaking, but I just tend to speak too fast and miss out on things I planned on saying. Hopefully I'll learn to overcome that!

刚才宿舍房里来了一位不速之客。
My greatest enemy from back home decides to terrorize me AGAIN!!!
THE BIG BAD BEETLE!
It was fine darting around the room until it stubbornly planted itself on my desk, in extremely close proximity to my MacBook, textbooks, pencil case, bag and water bottle!
Gosh Shiyan and I went through so much to invite it out! I tried talking [non]sense with it and counselling it, we tried throwing highlighter at it in a feeble attempt to scare it off while being damn freaking scared of actually hitting and squashing it cuz nobody will want to clear its remains. We tried using the end of the mop to disturb it and send the message that it is absolutely not welcome, but apparently our communication failed due to no shared field of experience. Like, duh -.- Thank goodness Shiyan was brave enough to use a toothpaste box as a platform to deliver it right out of our window, which was closed shut immediately after.
I don't want to stay in a beetle-y hostel!!! It's the second one in two weeks! Maaammy~
Haha

I think I'm enjoying Communication Studies so far. Although my lecture readings make me really sleepy, the lectures are great and what have been taught to us so far really enables me to understand various aspects of communication better. Communication is actually something I have been thinking about all along, just that I had no idea it was related, and I have been trying to improve communication between people in various situations. Hmm, but I don't seem to have made any conscious effort to improve my interpersonal communication skills. Interesting course... =)

Anyway, back to the topic: Excessive laughter is unhealthy! Experts may claim that laughing is good for our health, but personal experience has shown that laughing hysterically and uncontrollably is potentially fatal! During lunch today, Jing Ting and I were talking about our ex-classmate Sabrina, whose nickname is Sabu. Shiyan then suggested the name Ba-bi-bu, together with the surname 公羊[不要怀疑,‘公羊’ 可是百家姓之一喔!], which makes it 公羊把哔噗. That triggered my hysterical laughter. She went on to suggest names like 公羊母羊 and 公羊咩, which caused my hysteria to deteriorate! We ended up laughing so hard my stomach hurts and breathing became a little difficult, but I just couldn't stop! If we end up laughing like this in our room without anyone to stop us, we are highly likely to laugh to death! Come to think of it, it wasn't that funny. It was just that we've talked about this and that got me laughing like mad the last time, and this time round it's the combined effect of that memory as well as the joke itself which made me launch into uncontrollable hysteria.

我的笑点实在太低了,而且时常一‘笑’不可收拾。Which makes me think that I cannot make it as a radio DJ. Imagine your DJ laughing at some lousy joke, or worse, a private joke with her partner, and not being able to stop! All you'll hear is some crazy laughter - you cannot stop them, you don't know when they will stop. Urgh. Scary. Anyway, I cannot imagine talking to myself. Or rather, talking to a lot of people whom I can't see [oops that sounds scary, especially for this month] and not getting any verbal response. I cannot tahan not getting any response! I'm too boring now, since I've been through so little, or so it feels like. Hopefully I'll be able to try this next sem or [academic] year. Got to train my laughing resistance.

Anyway I hate CCA point systems. Or any kind of point system. In university, it seems like people are running for leadership positions in CCA or whatever, just to gain points so that they can stay in hostel next year. I know there are many people around with true passion, and they do sometimes end up being stereotyped as running for points, which is really unfair to them. But there's just too significant a number of people who are considering taking on leadership positions to gain points. There were similar situations in secondary school too, but thank goodness not in junior college, since they abolished the CCA point system. Testimonial was still a factor too. Why do that? Never mind, at least the people I know are running out of true interest and passion. Aiya, don't stay in hostel, at most wake up at 5.30 in the morning for 8.30 lectures mah... Secondary school also wake up at that kind of time... =X I'll probably drop dead when I reach school though... >_<

Shiyan and I just went down to do our laundry! And we couldn't figure out where to pour in detergent. Sorry lah, I never do housework mah... =X

I am back in my hostel room at such early hours! Actually I was back half an hour ago. My lessons were going to end at 1830 on Thursday, but now they end at 1300, cuz I dropped Cross-Taiwan Straits Relations for Sem 1.

Anyway, I'm hoping to do some readings for Foundations of Mathematics later and practise my Korean. If I can get my attention away from this screen.

I've got excellent news! I finally successfully collected my matriculation card! Meaning, I can mail in for my rebate as well as activate my campus call service. Hooray! If I can get myself out of the house during the weekends.

My attitude is so not right. I realized I have a tendency to ignore everyone around me when I'm walking alone in a crowd. Ignore, as in totally disregard their presence. If there isn't many people, I like to look at my surroundings. But when I'm walking alone and there's many people around me, I'll feel damn weird! That's why I'll walk real fast, listen to MP3 or keep SMS-ing to keep myself really busy in case I meet anyone I know. If there's anyone I'll like to meet by coincidence or who will like to meet me, I think that person will call me. If not, we'll just do mutual dao-ing. Haha, I'm especially friendly when caught by surprise! Sometimes.

I'm quite unfriendly today, but when I realized how sadly unfriendly I am, I became more friendly. Haha random

I dropped my Cross-Taiwan Straits Relation module! For now. I'll take this module again someday. I'm still not brave enough. Haha. Anyway, I found a substitute for it. I'm taking...Foundations of Mathematics!

MAS111 - FOUNDATIONS OF MATHEMATICS
Prerequisite: A Level Mathematics or equivalent
This module introduces fundamental ideas and techniques used in many different areas of mathematics. Elementary logic, mathematical statements, quantified statements. Sets, operations on sets, Cartesian products, properties of sets. Natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, real numbers, complex numbers. Relations, equivalence relations, equivalence classes. Functions, injective and surjective functions, inverse functions, composition of functions. Mathematical proofs, mathematical induction.

Hmm... Sounds familiar? I hope so. I'm hoping this will be the module to pull my GPA up, but honestly, I don't think so. Pray hard, or rather, study hard. At least this will help me keep in touch with Mathematics. =D

We picked our presentation/assignment topic for our Chinese Migration module during today's tutorial. I'm doing mine on Hokkien Immigrant, likely to be a case study on Taiwanese Hokkien Immigrant. Nearly couldn't get that topic cuz Samantha and her friend are both Hokkien. Haha I think the teacher let me do that same topic cuz he saw my passion in that. I think if I continue my craze over Taiwan and actually do make a conscious effort to learn more about Taiwan, I might end up being mistaken as a Taiwanese someday. Hopefully. But I'm still glad to be a Singaporean and not a Taiwanese. =P

Anyway, my timetable changed! Since it should be pretty much confirmed, I shall post it up here so you know when you can come kachiau me or ask me to go kachiau you!

Anyway, I finally signed up for Chron! Haha I can't wait to get started! Feels like a long time since I did any proper writing, since I rarely write properly on my blog. Wahaha. The turn-out rate at the welcome tea was really good and the room was totally packed. Hopefully I'll get myself exposed to more kinds of stuff as well as different kinds of writing. Haha can't help wondering where I'll be sent to for my first summer internship. Thinking a bit too far, since school just started!

Orh anyway I'm really broke now, resulting in a highly reduced frequency of me even mentioning midnight KBOX. This week alone, or rather, so far, I've bought a laptop case for $36, COM201 text [photocopied] for $15plus, HC461 course package for $9plus, Korean text and workbooks for $40plus and Microsoft Office for Mac at $70plus, not to mention that I have yet to pat my brother back for the MacBook+iPod Touch.

Oh! Our school, as in SCI, is having a Angel Mortal game! But we're just going to have seniors as angels and us as mortals. Haha I love that game, although I don't normally get nice angels. Hopefully I get a nice angel this time. =)

I'm glad to say I think I am getting better at getting around school. =/

Did I mention that I still do not have my NTU matriculation card? Apparently my card wasn't printed together with everyone else's and I made four wasted trips to SCI Level 2, only to be asked to go to OAS to collect my card. *sian* Never mind, I have to go there to collect my tertiary student EZ link card anyway. That building very far lah... *dies*

I don't mind not having my matriculation card actually, since I don't mind not having another card with my 大头照. The problem is, without my matriculation card, I cannot:
`Borrow books from the library
`Activate the campus call service which comes with my student plan
`Complete the mail-in rebate procedure so that my iPod ends up to be $28 and not $498

I'm tempted to shop again. It's the last day of the pasar malam, and I did not buy that bag. Congratulate me. Not. I saw a pair of sneakers similar to that pair of mine which is so comfortable and nice to run in, selling at $12.90. I think I'm going to get it. Saw some below-$10 clothes which I'm going back for tomorrow afternoon. I need to get some paper clips from Popular but I have no idea what I need them for. I'm still in search of a nice and practical laptop case, since my damn chio purple hard-case is damn freak expensive. I think I might end up buying the Mickey Mouse one which is on discount at Popular. *act cute* -.-

Red hair is hot!!! *random*

Whisper, as the name suggests, is someone who is comfortable with their own uncomplicated and low-maintenance style. For you, colour should be natural-looking, subtle, simple yet elegant; about enhancement, not dramatic change.
You are shy of colouring your hair, as you don’t really want people to know that you have had it coloured. But perhaps you need to cover some grey, or your natural colour could be more interesting? Don't worry, the solution is to use a range of shades and tones close to your natural colour, to get a really natural-looking result, by emulating the variety of tones in a natural head of hair. In terms of placement, your hairdresser can apply the colour in fine veil pieces throughout, or slices in the underneath sections of your hair.

L'Oréal online test says that my hair colour personality is 'Whisper'
Tempted to break away from classic jet black and dye/highlight my hair dark purple
No spare cash now
Maybe later in the semester when everything's sort of stabilized

Back to what I mean by: Looks can be deceiving.

I was reading through my Speech and Argumentation textbook [yes, I'm reading it but I haven't even gotten past Chapter 1]
The author mentioned that when we are nervous, the audience is not aware of the full extent of our nervousness
I realized how true that is

In Sec 1, we were supposed to do some story-telling activity in front of the whole class during Chinese lesson
Of cuz, I was freak nervous
I knew I was supposed to look at the audience, but I ended up looking in the direction of my classmates and staring at the clock at the back of the class
Haha, and my teacher praised me for looking at the audience

For my Sec 4 prelim English oral exam, I was damn nervous again
I was so jittery and I felt like I was going to cry
The comment given by my examiner was that I looked calm and collected
That was basically all that was good about my performance
Wahaha

During all my public speaking and interview experiences, I always feel as though I was going to cry
I could almost feel tears in my eyes
Of cuz, I never cried
My voice always trembles like mad
And I start talking nonsense
My first few interviews were a flop, duh
But those turned out mainly to be failure on the content part
The interviews which followed turned out better
I pretty much passed all those which mattered
So it turned out the nervousness was not that destructive after all
Maybe the book is right; it is OK to be freak nervous during public speaking, as long as it doesn't get in the way
I did survive about 20 minutes with all the CND big bosses for my second scholarship interview
But I still don't think I can make it through a whole 5 minutes of speech!!!

I am pissed
I've been gone for less than a week and there's people assuming my room is vacant for use
Just cuz I'm staying in hostel
Even if I am away in hostel
What gives you the right to assume that my room is available for your kids
That is plain rude
I don't like this
No offense, really =/

Pretty fireworks!
Love seeing the sky burst into various colours of fireworks
Can hear the sound of fireworks outside my window
Cannot see anything from 5th floor though =(
Too lazy to go up to the top floor to view the fireworks cuz not sure of the direction anyway

Having done an article regarding NDP made me more interested in it
Especially looking forward to seeing all the special features mentioned in actual action
Black Knights' formations were amazing!
March-past was nice too, but I can't really appreciate that though

Fireworks reminded me of 2008 Countdown@Marina
Makes me look forward to 2009 Countdown
When I went for 2008 Countdown with Michelle Fonping Audrey, I was still seriously considering going Taiwan for my university education
Glad I decided to stay
WKWSCI's a great place, and I do look forward to more days and greater participation in the school
And I'll get to experience the last moments of the year with my dearest friends, counting down to the next
Can't wait for 2009 countdown! XD
Nice ambience, gorgeous fireworks, crazy crowd, random eye candies, great local music... and you don't know if your ex-crush might just be playing in one of the bands!
I didn't notice that until more than half a year later though

Happy birthday, Singapore =)

My blog is going to end up with more saved drafts than published posts someday...

The thing I like about writing...
It's great when you see people reading what you have written, responding to it, discussing about it, and continue thinking about it.
It's sad when they do none of the above.
It's not just about the topic being written about, but about how the topic and the ideas have been organized and packaged.
They read when their attention has been captivated; they respond when they can connect; they discuss when thoughts are provoked; they will continue thinking and reflecting if they are truly inspired.

Derrick He Wei Jian's new album looks great, but the image bears a striking resemblance with Show Luo Zhi Xiang. Derrick definitely looks and sings better, but hmm can he dance as well? Hope he can make it big beyond Singapore...

I cannot get myself into mugging mode!!!

First week of university is unofficially over [since I've 2 tutorials on Fridays and tutorials won't start until next week]. Glad to say, I've survived! Not that I expected myself not to survive...
Being away from home for almost a week...didn't make me miss it more. Perhaps cuz I did go back for awhile on Wednesday to fetch my Mac, I wasn't away from home for that long.

I do miss home food, as well as the close proximity to a wide variety of food available back in Toa Payoh Lor 7.
Did I mention I've been eating the same breakfast set from the same canteen for 4 days straight? Decided to just get an iced milo this morning, which makes me really hungry now.

At least our room isn't as warm as it felt when we first moved in. Either the temperature did go down, or we've basically gotten used to it. Glad that I no longer feel the need to lug a fan back to hostel.

Academic-wise, there's only been lectures. Other than my core courses, I've attended lectures for Chinese Migration and Cross-Taiwan Straits Relations. The course contents for both HC4xx electives are really interesting and I believe knowledge from both courses will benefit me greatly in the future. For practical reasons, such as safeguarding my grades by diversifying the risk, I am highly likely to drop Cross-Straits Taiwan Relations once I find another elective for substitution, but I swear I'll be back. I seriously need to build up my intellect and develop better critical thinking and analyzing skills. I never had much confidence in my Chinese other than the 莫名其妙的潜在自信 which I always have, but A Levels was truly a great hit. Which explains my fear of Economics now. Urgh, move on!

Chinese Migration lecture next wednesday clashes with Chron Welcome Tea! Hope I can make it for half the session. Still wondering if I should join CAC or anything else in addition to Chron. I want to learn Guitar someday before my prediction comes true and my guitar really rots in my room! Or maybe I should attempt a personal breakthrough by joining some sports?

Self-reminder:
`Financial planning -.-
`Mail-in rebate
`Payback time
`Get textbooks
`Complete my lecture readings

After a 4-hour STARS war, I am finally done with my timetable!
After several rounds of dropping and adding [hence add/drop], I actually managed to get 2 out of the 3 electives I wanted initially, which include Korean Language Level 1 and Cross-Taiwan Straits Relations.
Currently, I will be taking 3 CS cores and 3 UEs, so I'll have to take 2 GER-PEs next semester.
Hopefully I will be able to fit some interesting GER-PEs into my timetable next semester and get them during course registration.
I think it's very likely that this will not be my final timetable cuz I'll probably change again.
Good luck to me...

First two days of university feel good on the whole, although I am unable to point out precisely what's good.
Our room is cool, not literally, cuz it gets quite warm. A senior attached is just a few rooms away! Haha, met her in the toilet twice so far. Not very familiar with the people in my hall yet, other than randomly waving rather enthusiastically to a neighbour who actually waved back in response! =P
Looking forward to more activities in school!
I wanna join Chron! I wanna join Fusion! I wanna join CAC! I wanna mug too! How??? Haha...

Hall 13
Block 63
Level 5
Unit 1270

That's my other address-to-be from tomorrow onwards.
Feel free to drop by for some room-warming [not exactly a house eh...].

Room is quite nice and new [wall looks white and clean].
Quite a high level, meaning lots of stairs-climbing, but also better ventilation.
It's going to be pretty well stocked up with everything you can possibly need.
I'm going to have a really hard time when I have to move out.

Feels weird.
Starting school tomorrow.
My brain function has been going down, especially since ending my internship.
Even Sec 3 Mathematics is making me think for quite some time.
My brain better be able to adapt fast.

No idea exactly how I feel about tomorrow.
Hope everything goes well. =)

Might not be coming online until Tuesday or Wednesday.
MacBook estimated to arrive around then.
Hope I know how to use it well.
Tech noob.

That's all, for now...

Holy crap.
Procrastination really does get people into trouble.
Duh.
Should have ordered the MacBook online long time ago.
Didn't realize I'll need a credit/debit card for payment.
When I did, didn't manage to get the debit card from my bro.
When I did, the order will only be shipped here by 040808-050808 and delivered by 050808-060808.
Which means, there is no way it'll be here in time for me to do my course registration on Tuesday once add/drop period starts.
Which means, I'll need to find some other way or end up with some course not suitable for me.

Another wisdom tooth is coming out!
No wonder my right lower jaw is so uncomfortably painful.

Anyone interested in KBOX next week?
There's Monday Special and Thursday Ladies' Night:
