This afternoon on my way back home from school, I was waiting for the train at Boon Lay station and I was thinking about how dangerous the open tracks are. Many have died due to MRT accidents; it's not new. It's actually not that dangerous if you are careful. But I always have a slight fear of the tracks. I'm always wondering: What if I slip and fall in? And the train comes then?? And I'm too short to climb up??? Ignore me. Someone died at Bukit Batok station
this morning. He stuck his head out to see if the train was coming and the train did. It knocked him. He died on the platform. That's a new way of dying by MRT accident. Sorry, I didn't mean to be funny. My point is: How safe are our aboveground MRT stations? I need to contact SMRT Corp Comm. SMRT office works Mon to Fri. Tomorrow is Sat and my assignment is due on Mon. This idea is almost impossible. My grooming idea is like damn freaking lousy and weak even after countless rounds of reviewing. It's much more suitable for features, sadly. The sources I was looking forward to have proven to be impossible. I've still got lots of information, rather useless information (I think my interviews sux... What have I been doing?!) for a non-newsy news but I cannot get any information for the nice newsy piece!!! Bloody hell...
Unless I do according to Bala's way of one-day news deadline, and find out from SMRT on Monday morning and get the article out by 12nn. Gosh, that's really newsroom style! She'll be so impressed if I get it done, won't she? XP There is no way I'm going to get a satisfactory response within, say, 2 or 3 hours? The hotline starts at 7.30 a.m. but I don't think the Corp Comm starts work until 8 or 9 a.m., and with all the procedures in such an organization, really impossible. Will they save on procedures if this is not for media publishing? Will they even bother about me?
OMG... I found one SMRT business card among my business card collection. I should be doing on Environment; I got so many NEA cards and I know that guy slightly better than the SMRT person. He probably don't remember me anyway. Anyway the card doesn't show her handphone number. I cannot bug her.
OMG! Jin found the contact of this SMRT manager! With HP number! I can bug her! After I send her an email. Please don't dao me. PLEASE!
This better turn out right... I need to go find a MRT station without officers patrolling at the platform! They confirm won't let me interview people. Bloody hell, I need to go down to Bukit Batok and see if the officers there will speak. They are probably instructed not to.
