I must do my dialect story well!!! I see more information coming in, thanks to MM Lee. So what if we are learning English and Chinese well, because we don't get to learn dialect? So what if we don't need dialect to break into the Chinese market? Does it mean if China never rose up and the Ang-Mohs are still leading the world, we will be asked to forsake Chinese and focus on brushing up on our English? It's a similar logic for dialect. It's more than its practical use, but the connection to our roots and all. Can we stop being so pragmatic?
